The VSC are asking supporters to write to the Observer (by emailing the Foreign Affairs Editor on peter.beaumont@observer.co.uk ) calling on them to correct their piece on Venezuela in today’s paper, specifically by excluding the false claims in the piece regarding opinion polls for the upcoming Election.
This is necessary because today's Observer (30.09.12) piece on Venezuela is based on false claims about polls regarding Venezuela’s Presidential election (namely that “With just a week until polling day, most forecasters predict a narrow victory of between three and five points for the incumbent.”).
The truth is that most polls give Hugo Chavez a strong double digit lead (you can see a poll summary that will also help you write your email here .)
For reference, the piece in today’s Observer can be read online here .
Please send your request to the ‘Observer’ as soon as possible as we seek to tackle the growing misrepresentation in parts of the media as Venezuela’s election approaches.
